Students are strongly encouraged to participate.
Abstract
In the talk I will describe a method of approximation of the equation of continuum
mechanics which are defined over a curved, slim domain in
R3. The resulting system
of the ordinary differential equations describes the dynamics of an shallow arch.
The results presented in the talk provide a correction to a classical engineering
problem in the structural design.
