Shock waves and supersonic flight
The talk will be suitable for a general audience.
Students are strongly encouraged to participate.
Abstract
An informal and intuitive introduction to the phenomena of shock waves and their
interaction with a flying object. The exposition is intended to be colloquial,
and the mathematical formulation involves only the knowledge of
no more than basic calculus -- math 15, 16, 17.
