Title: Dynamics from structure: an introduction to reaction network theory
Abstract: We'll start with a brief overview of the questions studied in reaction network theory, and then focus on the global attractor conjecture (GAC), widely regarded as the most important open question in the field. The GAC has sparked a lot of interest in recent years, in part because of its ramifications in polynomial dynamical systems, but also in applied areas of biochemical engineering. I will present a short history of the conjecture and some recent partial results.
