Colloquium at Math Department at WVU, Fall 2019

Abstract: In this talk, I will outline the intensive care unit (ICU) model setup and reasonable assumptions for the transmission of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) between the patients. Due to the nature of the ICU setup and the assumptions on the patients, this model is somewhat similar to a vector borne disease model. From their I will use both transient dynamics (such as the basic reproductive number) as well as simulations to show several interesting features of the model. A very interesting result will show how even a slight change in initial conditions can have a great effect on the behavior.
