Education

I received my PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 1990 under the supervision of Dr. Béla Bollobás.

Teaching

In Spring 2024, I teach Math 581 (Topology 1). Notes are available in the html format and the pdf format.

Research

My research interests concentrate on infinite combinatorics, general topology and convergence theory which goes beyond topology.

For Interested PhD Students

If you are a graduate student considering writing PhD Thesis under my supervision, you need a strong background in linear algebra, theory of fields, graph theory, and general topology. You also need to be familiar with the basics of set theory (including cardinal arithmetic, ordinal numbers and transfinite induction). I expect you to pass a PhD Entrance Exam in Topology and either Algebra or Real Analysis.
