The calculus portion of the placement exam consists of 25 multiple choice questions.  They cover material from what is roughly equivalent to high school Algebra II and Trigonometry (sometimes called Pre-calculus).  The topics include

Credit by Exam

Credit by examination provides students the opportunity to receive credit in courses by demonstrating that they have acquired sufficient knowledge of a subject without formal enrollment in a course or study in the classroom.

FALL 2008 SCHEDULE
The Department of Mathematics offers free help to students in mathematics courses through its Learning Center, located in 301 Armstrong Hall.

Students may drop in and receive help with homework problems, or ask questions concerning returned homework/exams. Appointments are not necessary.

Monday - Thursday:  9:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Friday:   9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Undergraduate Prerequisites

STARTING WITH FALL 2008, MACT and MSAT SCORES WILL NOT BE USED FOR PLACEMENT INTO MATH CLASSES.

EVERY INCOMING STUDENT WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE MATH PLACEMENT EXAM.

MACT AND MSAT SCORES WILL BE USED BY ADMISSIONS AND RECORDS TO GENERATE A SCHEDULE FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN, BUT THE MATH PLACEMENT EXAM WILL OVERRIDE THOSE PLACEMENTS.

INCOMING FRESHMEN NEED TO CHECK THE MATERIAL RECEIVED FROM THE NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION OFFICE.
